Responsibilities / Duties:
- Prepares the crew rotation plan for the Company’s fleet
- Organizes visits to the Marine Academies for the selection of new Cadets for the Company’s’ Vessels.
- Searching for new employees by using any possible means like contacts, public relations, advertising.
- Co-operates with manning agents for the rotation of foreign crew
- Receiving and processing new personnel applications.
- General supervision of Crew Changes
- Collaborates on a constant basis with Flag Administration, national and international authorities on arising officers/crew matters and if necessary co-operating with competent union representatives in order to resolve any officers and crew problems.
- Implements national, international rules and regulations and Company’s policies related to crew issues.
- Implements, supervises and co-ordinates Company’s Alcohol and Drug Policy
- Assures crews’ good health – prior signing on, during service and after signing off, and follows-up the recovery on sick crew.
- Ensures officers and crew are properly qualified (including all necessary licenses and certificates as required by Flag State / STCW).
- Briefs newly recruited officers on their duties and responsibilities.
- Co-operates with the DPA on SMS related matters.
- Co-operates with Marine, Operation and Technical Departments for the selection of competent Masters, Chief Engineers and senior officers.
- Appoints manning agents for the recruiting of foreign officers and crew as per Company’s’ requirements.
- Extends the due-diligence for the selection of competent and experienced officers and crew in collaboration with the Marine Manager.
- Organizes seminars with other Departments and the DPA for the education of officers on SMS matters and safety and environmental protection.
- Responsible for briefing/introducing sea aspects to all new Deck/Engine Cadets.
- Budget preparation and monitoring for all related to the department items (wages, bonuses, extra allowances, etc.)
- Deputizes Crew Operations Officer together with one Crew Administration Officer
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum 5 years as crew manager / supervisor in a tanker shipping company, with Greek Officers and Seafarers (Therefore tanker experience is a MUST)
- Greek and English language skills is a must – Excellent command (Speaking-Writing)
- Experience with Greek, Filipino and Ukrainian officers / crew will be considered a huge advantage
- Ideally must have good interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships with varied cultures and nationalities.
- Initiative and sound people management skills is essential for this role
