Position:
Crew Superintendent

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ensure that all crewing activities are well planned and organised and safe guarded against risks
  • ensure there is sufficient capability and resources to meet departments responsibilities and objective
  • following and adhering to company management system with the department
  • following up non conformities, observations and customer complaints
  • promoting awareness for customer requirements throughout the crewing department
  • Representing the crewing department in various internal and external forums (ie emergency response team)
  • ensure vessels are managed according to the contractual terms and conditions
  • review and monitoring the safe manning of all vessels, based on all key defined conditions
  • ensuring all seafarers meet all the training, qualified and compliance requirements (STCW, Flag State)
  • ensuring all seafarers have passed medical examination and other certificates related to fitness
  • conducting crew changes in compliance with the seafarer’s employment agreement
  • liaise, arrange, and monitor with regards to joining and disembarking of crew.
  • Ensure everything runs smoothly
  • Ensure all seafarer are on board in compliance with MLC, Flag State and National requirements
  • arrange travel arrangements with sufficient time for handing over of duties and familiarization
  • arrange accident and deviation insurance for non-fare paying passengers
  • verify and approve travel expense from sea going personnel
  • inform wage department for any abnormalities
  • monitor performance evaluations for all senior officers and follow up
  • monitor progress of cadets and follow up
  • monitor training needs and initiate follow up
  • inform relevant parties of medical cases and accidents as per procedures
  • liaise with parties regarding medical cases and accident
  • maintain records of sea going staff as per procedure
  • arrange cash to master and monitor as per company procedure -monitor and control crewing budget as per company reporting procedure -monitor and control flight costs and flight arrangements for sea going personnel
    other tasks and duties can be given from department heads and top management

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar position and/or has had some sailing experience but this is not a pre-requisite.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skill and ability on own initiative
  • Strong communication skills in English
